Ironmongery

Polmac (UK) Ltd uses a wide range of ironmongery, including catches, hinges, stays and carrying handles that are sourced mainly in the UK and Germany. Polmac ironmongery is fixed by hand, using special metal pins or screws designed for wood boxes, providing a perfect finish.

These special fixings are designed to be strong, permanent, and to enhance the appearance of your boxes. However, machine applied metal fixings are also used where specified, mainly for larger consignments and in order to improve overall manufacturing time.

Polmac ironmongery is supplied in polished brass or nickel-plated finishes as standard. However, special ironmongery finishes can be sourced, including solid polished brass, bronze, black and polished stainless steel, subject to availability.

Special Packing

Cardboard Cartons

Polmac (UK) Ltd uses five-layer, impact-resistant, corrugated cardboard cartons in a standard buff colour, for safe and secure transportation of your custom wooden boxes.

Our cardboard cartons are made up of recycled ‘flutes’ that are sandwiched between plain liners. They’re environmentally friendly, as they’re made from managed and sustainable materials that can be easily recycled.

Wood Wool Packing

If a more rustic look, or a more economical packing solution is required, we can supply wood wool packing as a means of keeping your products safe and secure during transit and storage.

Wood wool is a light, bio-degradable, eco-friendly material made from shredded wood and is commonly used in the gift industry for such things as gift hampers, wines & spirits and machine parts.

Cardboard Outers

Individual boxes can also be placed in single-layer, white cardboard outers, for additional protection, if requested. Please note that single layer, cardboard outers and sleeves are charged as an added extra. Prices are available on request.
